Who is it for?

Managing Safely is a course for managers and supervisors in any sector and any organisation. It’s designed to give managers all they need to know to help them handle health and safety in their teams. The flexible new high impact programme covers all the main health and safety issues, and includes a session tackling the environment too. The course lasts for 24 hours in total. Managing Safely can be delivered over a full week or on single days or as an evening course and has eight modules:

    • Introducing Managing Safely
    • Assessing risks
    • Controlling risks
    • Understanding your responsibilities
    • Identifying hazards
    • Investigating accidents and incidents
    • Measuring performance
    • Protecting our environment

Certification

Delegates who successfully complete the written and practical assessments at the end of the course are awarded an IOSH certificate in Managing Safely.

What IOSH say

Quite simply, it's more fun, easier to understand and very memorable.

Managing Safely is highly interactive, keeping delegates fully involved at every stage of the course – no 'death by PowerPoint'! You'll find not just a sophisticated new presentation using exclusive animation, full trainer notes, an in-depth workbook, and a full range of assessments and model answers, but also quizzes, a board game and a DVD as part of the pack.

The new course is very practical, offering step-by-step guides to carry out the key health and safety activities managers are responsible for, and giving checklists and other materials for them to try out on the course and use when they get back to work. All the examples and case studies we’ve chosen are straightforward and easy to relate to, whatever business the delegate comes from.

Importantly, Managing Safely gets people thinking about health and safety as more than just something they have to deal with as part of their job.

What delegates say:

"Managing Safely is extremely user-friendly. Normally health and safety courses are boring and confusing!"

"The level and tone were spot on"

"Found the quiz a good ice-breaker – fun and interesting but got serious messages across"

"I could relate to the scenarios and the visuals made it easier to understand how things work"

"The workbook is a good document, with some stunning material
